2004 - the year of Utena. Not that I hadn't already seen it, but I blew most of my Christmas money on DVDs that winter, as they'd finally released the whole series in the States, and Utena, in some catalytic memetic reaction, as it is wont to do, suddenly dominated my fandom consciousness. And by suddenly, I mean within a day. (I do have a trend towards serial monogamy with fandoms, though some, including Utena, I keep circling back to. And one day in January--bam, out of bed with Bebop, into bed with Utena.)

This was also the year that the release of Myst IV: Revelation drew me back into that old friend of a fandom. The prospect of getting jossed by new canon drove me to finally revise and publish the DMVs, and I even wrote a few other things. In the end, though, the year had two triumphs, as in February, back in Utena, there was "The Unreality of Blue," about the most difficult thing I'd attempted to date.

The beginning of fall term marked the beginning of serious work on my senior project, only part of which was a novel-sized chunk of original fiction, so for some time my writing squee was directed elsewhere.
